Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve heard about Pokémon Go – the wildly popular augmented reality game from Niantic, Inc. and The Pokémon Company released earlier this month. With so many wild adventures taking place, it’s left a lot of people wondering what’s next for the game? If you look closely, there are some hidden clues that point towards future app functionalities and features. Let’s check them out!
Facebook Connection
If you’re like most people, you didn’t bother reading the Privacy Policy or Terms of Service when creating an account. However, did you know there’s a couple times Facebook is mentioned?! That’s right! Although you can’t right now, it appears the language of these documents have been written broadly enough to include the option for user accounts to be created or connected with their Facebook accounts. What exactly this means right now and to what extent Facebook will become incorporated into the game remains a mystery; but, keep an eye out for Facebook integration at some point!
In-Game Messaging
“Username and messages sent to other players” Do you wish you could message or communicate with friends or other players at your PokéStop or Gym? Well, you just might be able to with a future app update! According to the Pokémon Go Privacy Policy, Niantic, the game developer, will collect information about players. This includes your “user name and messages sent to other players…” wait what!? Yep, that’s right. The policy is written in a way that alludes to the future possibility of in-game messaging. Again, nothing is certain, yet, but that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t use the heck out of texting with other trainers!
Trading
Niantic’s CEO John Hanke has already confirmed in multiple interviews they’re working on adding trading functionality within the game. This is further confirmed in the Terms of Service where a whole section is dedicated to “Trading.” Hanks refers to trading as a “core element.” Additionally, he confirmed server updates (THANK YOU!!!!) and other updates on a bi-weekly basis.
What are some other features you think will be added to the game? Do you think they’ll release more Pokémon beyond the current 150?! Have a cool idea for the game yourself? Share it in the comments below! I’d love to hear your ideas! Make sure you ‘like’ the video and ‘subscribe‘!
